Sweet Stuff is Made of This
Posted on January 31, 2011
WHOA, bloggy! Take it easy…
As I’ve said before, this blog is my neglected third child. My human kids have been under the weather so I’ve had to put this blog on the back burner. It is a lot of work to keep up with this blog, and every now and then I think about stopping. But, this blog comes up in so many conversations… even with people I am just meeting… it makes me realize (along with some cool Google Analytics numbers) that people actually DO visit here. That really makes it worth the extra time and work! I just have to stop and remember that when I get frustrated about keeping up with this blog.
So, if you are reading this… I raise my… teddy-bear shaped jar of honey to you! (I don’t have a drink nearby… and my kids have coughs… so here’s some honey.) Seriously, though… whether you’re clients of mine or not… friends of mine or not… I’m SO SO SO glad you stopped by to see what I’m working on. I mean what I said up there in my header… I secretly love you for it.
Now, onto the fun stuff. The baby stuff. The stuff that’s so sweet it puts my jar of honey to shame. Sweet stuff is made of this:
Scroll back up and look at that face one more time… see that little crease above his chin? (I LOVE IT!) That’s where he stores his honey.
Okay, now he’s just being funny… lookin’ like a honey bear…
Stretch ‘em out! (I love when they do this:)
There’s nothing wrong with an upside down angle… especially when they look right at you:
Black and white looks good on him!
I had to throw in this last one, because it’s a first for me. (A hilarious first.) Ladies and gentlemen, I give you… my first ever photo of a burp:
He looks humiliated! How dare I post his burp on my blog! Dude, it’s okay… you’re baby. And a darn cute one, too. If that’s what sweet stuff is made of… burps, honey creases, stretchin’ legs and milky chins… You’re as sweet as they come. To his mama: You’re such a good mama. It was so great to see you again! I still can’t get over how much he grew since his newborn session. Already looking forward to his next one. I hope you like your preview- the rest will be finished soon!
Special thanks to Sara Smile Creations for the beautiful hand-made hats!!
Sleep Fighter
Posted on January 25, 2011
For this session, my studio was all a-bustle with extra family members that were in town to cuddle their newest little member. Between both grandmothers and an auntie and both parents, I could sense that there was a whole lotta spoilin’ goin’ on! There was so much “proud” in the air, I almost levitated. But, who wouldn’t be proud of this:
I adored this little boy the minute I laid eyes on him as he looked so tiny in his carseat! I’m not going to lie, though- he made me WORK! Modeling just wasn’t on his agenda for this particular day… (I think he was having tummy troubles, poor baby)… but I told his family I would do the best I could to fool everyone into thinking he wasn’t crying as much as he was.
Raise your hand if you want to chew on these toes for dessert:
He was a turbo sleep-fighter. Sleep fought the boy and the… boy won!
Ah, but capture a quick blink and we miiight be able to pretend…
Oh, and if you never raised your hand, here’s a second chance. Toes? Anyone??
We have a taker:
Oh, you’ll be chewing on those toes soon enough, sweet boy.
When his mama was feeding and settling him down, I enjoyed the conversations and laughter with the rest of the family. It was so nice to meet you all. I hope you were able to get enough snuggles to last until your next visit with this precious little man.
And to his parents…
You’re some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can see how much you love your son. (and it’s a LOT!) I’m really looking forward to his next session. I hope you like your preview- the rest will be finished very soon!
Baby Sounds
Posted on January 21, 2011
Ohhh, too bad I don’t have audio to go with these photos, because this little boy came with his own complete set of swoon-worthy newborn sounds. I don’t know how many times I looked up at his mama with my eyebrows about 2 feet above my head. He was a little restless, but he got extra comfy on his belly. What a perfect little prince…
You can tell he’s going to have some seriously thick hair.. and oh- hello, dimples:
Gah! Look at this next one… this is how he liked to have his legs. And check at that swirly little belly button- teehee!! I can’t stand it!
I’m pretty sure my lens can pick up more fine details than my own eyeballs. I don’t recall his little back being so perfectly peach-fuzzy!
Special thanks to Sara Smile Creations for this darling blanket below:
To his proud mama – It was so nice to meet you and I really enjoyed talking and laughing with you during this session. (I especially liked our conversation about the awesome-ness of 80s music.) Also, thanks for letting me love on your little man- he is beyond perfect!! The rest will be finished soon!
Itty Bitty Pretty
Posted on January 17, 2011
As the mother of a tiny 2-year old and the photographer of several mostly-huge babies… I know a tiny toddler when I see one. As soon as she walked through the door, I knew she was an itty bitty pretty.
But, small has nothing to do with energy, folks! She brought an amount of energy to my studio that could have powered my lights without electricity. A quick little wiffit, she was darting all over the place. Holding still is just not a toddler thing to do, but this little one took it to a whole new level with her quickness. (And she also took it to a whole new level with her cuteness, but that goes without saying.)
I adored her. She was the kind of kid you want to keep. And even though she was all over the place, when the time was right… she gave me exactly what I wanted:
I must warn you, though… I have no choice but to put extra photos in this client preview… I am having so much fun retouching these photos… I had to force myself to stop and post this blog. I couldn’t narrow it down to just 7 or 8… so 10 be it!
In my studio… I have boots, several tu-tus, pearls, bows and more… yay for dress-up play!

A tu-tu and curls, a flower and pearls… I just love little girls:
To her just-as-tiny mommy: It was so nice to meet you and I had so much fun photographing your quick little itty bitty pretty wiffit. Thanks for being so very patient… The rest of your photos will be finished very soon! I’ll be in touch.
