He kept it locked away and hidden… his inner model, that is.  For the first six months of his life, he had everyone FOOLED.  Was he perfecting his technique beneath the surface and saving it for his studio debut? Perhaps… because on this day, his inner model was unleashed… and I couldn’t help feeling like “The Chosen One”.  He brought skills to my studio.  He smiled and cooed and made all kinds of cute baby-ish faces and he would look right into the depths of my lens.  You have soul, baby:

He also brought a nap along in his bag of model-tricks.  A boy after my own heart.  I would like to know who made up that rule that babies only sleep for photographers when they are newborns… not true… and I’m so glad…

When he woke, he decided to be a comedian!  All boys are born with the innate ability to make spitty truck sounds.  It’s just another one of his many skills.

Hi Sugar!

I can’t stand it!

To his mother (an old friend from high school!):  I know this sweet boy has put your heart through the ringer with all the worries and struggles with discovering his allergy and all of the sleepless nights.  I also know how very much he makes all of that totally worth it to you.  It’s obvious how much you love him and I was so happy to witness that bond.  I hope you swoon over this preview… and the rest will be finished soon!

My heart beats all weird whenever I think about how this session almost didn’t happen.  We got her on my schedule at the last minute when all of the stars and planets magically aligned and another session had to reschedule, creating the perfect opening to photograph this princess in all her 6-month-old sweetness.  (I’m pretty sure that was a run-on sentence.  I’m not even talking and I almost ran out of air.) There’s just SO much to say about this little beauty… but as much as I love words, the photos want to do the talking.  I must say this, though: Red hair!?  I LOVE it.  She’s my Strawberry Pie:

Isn’t her dress gorgeous?  It reminds me of my favorite isle at Target, the Simply Shabby Chic bedding collection.  Here’s the kicker… this is the dress her mother wore when she was a baby.  I love that… and I think Little Miss does too:

I can’t get enough of this expression on babies:

None of these little piggies are going to market anytime soon…

This loved-by-all hat and diaper set was provided by the extremely talented Sara Smile Creations.

I remember the exact moment when I shot this next image… I shrieked and immediately showed it to her parents on the back of my camera.  (Something I try not to do, but sometimes I can’t help myself.)  I knew it would be my favorite.

To her parents:  What a cute family you make!  Y’all are truly great… so much fun… and I’m so glad I was able to get you in.  Your patience means the world to me.  I hope you like your preview- the rest will be finished very soon!

***If you or someone you know is interested in booking a session, I have only ONE spot left in May, which is the 7th at 9 am and I also have August 10th open.  Other than that, I am booking in September.  Gasps-R-Us!   I do keep a waiting list in case of cancellations and it DOES get used, so I recommend at least getting on the waiting list if you need something sooner.***

Boy Brought It

Posted on March 22, 2011

That’s right- he BROUGHT it.  His skills were in full force and he was modeling like nobody’s business.  One of the top five best hams of the hill.  Spring Hill, to be precise.  And, if Facebook had a fanpage called “Jasper’s Wide Grin”,  I would definitley be clickin’ the “Like” button… along with thousands of others.  You can’t help but LOVE this child.

Boy knows how to relax with snacks.

The hats (above and below) were lovingly provided by Sara Smile Creations.

This next one really gets me…

Now, this seems like the perfect place to get all mushy… right between the two photos that water up my eyes.  See, I form special bonds with my Sweet Pea babies… when I have the privilege of photographing them every 3 months, they grow on me more and more every time I see them.  When they come in for their 1-year sessions, I turn into a total sentimental pile of MUSH… because I love them so dearly… and (mamas say it with me) they grow way too fast.   So, I always do my best to make sure they…

…at least in the photographs. **wobbly sigh**

To his mom: You are precious and it is obvious how much you love motherhood… motherhood loves you back, girl.  You have every right to be as proud as you are of this wonder-child.  To his dad: thanks for walking in the door at the perfect moment when I needed your boy to look in that direction!  And when you bring your boy back for his 18- month session, make sure he remembers to bring my heart back.  He has it in his pocket.

Simply Beautiful

Posted on March 17, 2011

This baby’s sweet mama contacted me with a lovely goal: some simple shots of her daughter and some zeroing in on the little things.  You got it, sistah!  With impeccable skin and an angel-like demeanor… this baby made my job a synch.   An added bonus?  She brought her own soundtrack with her.  I loved hearing her “sing” songs and coo out some super-precious noises the whole time.  She was so sweet!

I really love the simplicity of a baby’s skin against a black background.  Who needs fancy when you can be simply beautiful?

Quite possibly the cutest drool I’ve ever seen…

I have a non-drooled sepia version of that same image on my Facebook business page.

I love her little birthmark!  Most likely, it will fade with time… but this photo won’t.

To her mother: It was so nice to meet you!  I am so glad you contacted me and I was able to get you in for this.  I loved hearing your inspiring story- No doubt about it, this baby is loved.

I hope you like your preview and I really appreciate your patience as things have been crazy on my end lately.  A sick child + a sick computer = a very stressed out and worried mommy/photographer!  But, when I factor in my amazing clients… and I mean EVERY one of YOU… it makes things a lot more bearable.

I’ll be in touch when the rest are finished soon!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
