She was calm… she was chill… she was cooool as a cucumber for the entire shoot.  She was perfectly content with everything.   She even danced to the music… she liked Greg Laswell’s music the best, which instantly pushed her coolness meter to a whole new level.  Her face is so darling and beautiful… those eyes, those cheeks… I had to squeeze them a few times… as always, she let me.   Because she’s cool.  Beautiful Miss Coolness.

I love this next shot, but it kinda breaks my heart into little bits… because this was her one-year session.  Another Sweet Pea has completed her first year and I am REALLY going to miss seeing her every three months.  That’s the problem, guys.  I get attached.  Then I have separation issues.  The reason this is the break-my-heart-to-bits shot?  Well, she’s standing here all kid-like.  What happened to the little baby girl?

Now, to keep myself from getting all watery in the eyes… here’s a funny one:

And being the Miss Coolness that she is… of course she brought her shades.  I don’t know about you, but I feel my Coolness Meter rise when I wear my shades, causing me to add a little extra strut to my step.  I don’t think I’m the only one…    “Word to your mother.”

Looks as if she chilled in her shades for a good while, doesn’t it?  Nope… one millisecond, baby.

Close-up time.

I have to add this last one for three reasons.  1. I love the back of a baby’s neck .  2. This shows that she still has baby-ness about her.  3. Girl has thick hair and the world needs to know it.

To her parents: Thanks again for gracing my camera with your daughter’s beautiful (and COOL) presence.  I have enjoyed watching her grow up during her first year and you two definitely have a lot to be proud of.  She is such a joy and you will see that it just keeps getting better and better.

I love how she’s squooshy.  I love how she studies me.  I love how her fine, feathery hair won’t keep a bow in it for more than 5 shots.  ;)   She’s a sweet, kind-hearted, laid back squoosher-girl and I love being her photographer.

It’s always bittersweet when a Sweet Pea turns one!  Here is her first cake dig… She was very dainty about it and kept picking up little pieces of icing for the longest time.  Too funny!

I had to resist the urge to put my camera down and show the gal how it’s done!  (My computer screen is very lucky I don’t have a fork in front of me right about now… That cake looks gooooood.)

C’mon girl,  don’t hate… appreciate.  The cake.

This next shot provoked a good, hearty LOL from me.  She demonstrated proof that she’s going to be a champ at Twister.  “Left hand, clean spot…. Right fooooot, cake.  Got it.”

She’s a little comedian.  Here she is taking pearls to a whole new level of sophistication:

This wasn’t the first time she did “The Walrus” with pearls.  You may remember last time.  Click HERE to see it.

She’s so beautiful and she just gets more and more fun by the minute.  I love this girl!

My favorite part of the session was when she fell asleep in my arms while her mama filled out her paperwork.  I LOVE when that happens! ( So I think it’s safe to say she loves me back, right?)  Her mother and I were then able to have a good gab-fest girl-talk session.  Bonus!

To her mama:  I’m so, so, SO glad you decided to book your maternity session with me when you were pregnant with this angel.  As I have photographed her growing up over the past year, you have become such a great friend and I feel truly blessed to have met you that first day.  I’m already looking forward to your next session in September, but I’m sure I’ll see you before then!  Thanks for your patience, and I hope you like your preview!

NEWS YOU CAN USE:  (Well, maybe).  I will be doing the unthinkable and getting away from work for a few days to visit my sister and bro-in-law in Colorado.  (If my legs didn’t ache so bad from today’s photo shoots, I’d get up and do my happy dance right this minute.)  I will be out of “the office” beginning this Thursday the 30th, and I will return very late on the 4th of July.  (Oh cool!  It just dawned on me that I might see fireworks from the plane… wicked!  I hope I have a window seat, or I may have to breathe down the neck of the stranger next to me.)

Anyway, if you are thinking about ordering prints this week, please do so as soon as possible, so I can take care of them before my trip.  Otherwise, I’ll have to do it when I return.  Also, I am waiting for payment from a couple of print orders, in which the PayPal payments were not completed.  If you placed an order within the last few days, please check your email.

I’m going to be a crazy loon these next few days as I try my derndest to get as much done as possible before I leave.   I just can’t afford an extra plane ticket for this monkey on my back. (Plus, I just know he’ll hog the window.)

All emails and voicemails that come in while I’m gone will be answered in the order they were received upon my return.  (I said that in my “business voice.” Nice, huh?)

I’m done typing now.  I didn’t mean to blab this much, but if you’re used to my blog, you know that later in the evening it is… the more I blab.  Sorry for any typos!  Love you!

He’s a supah dupah chunker, with a supah dupah personality to match.  At 9 months old, he had just the right amount of wild to still be considered tame.    He is continuously learning and I can see him turning into such a loveable and smart little big-man.

He was crawling toward me at warp speed… I had to make an alien noise to stop him in his tracks.  I love the result.

Haaay Bubby:

Resist the urge to buy him a pony.

Killing two birds with one stone, he proudly demonstrated his large array of sounds and noises, while showing me his new collection of pearly whites.  Get after it, boy!

All boys are born with the ability to make expert spitty sounds, you know.

Prepare your eyeballs.  It’s about to get bright up in this piece.

That antique toy (above) was mine when I was a baby.  (I must be a dinosaur.)  Little ones love it, though, because it dings when you roll it.  I love the colors.

Of course I didn’t forget the toes…

I supah dupah love this kid.

To his mama, my dear, dear friend… your session was a blast and I always have so much fun laughing with you.

I think everyone reading this should visit In Motion Spine and Joint Center’s facebook page and “like” it.  The proud daddy of this baby is an amazing chiropractor!

What do you get when an angel leaves a sweet souvenir of heaven’s kiss on a baby’s face?  The bluest eyes on the Earth.

Without a doubt, hers are the bluest eyes I have ever seen.  They almost look over-enhanced, but I swear, I barely touched them.  Simply amazing.  I’m pretty sure, for the rest of her life, she’ll be able to hypnotize anyone she comes into contact with.  She won’t even need to dangle a swinging pocket watch.  (Which is good, because I’m pretty sure people don’t use those anymore.  I say we bring them back.  Along with suspenders.  I want to wear suspenders.  Fashion with function.)

I don’t blame that angel for leaving a kiss mark.  With a face this beautiful, I would want credit, too!

OH, so Gerber!

This cute set was lovingly knitted by Sara Smile Creations.

Angel, you did GOOOOD.  She is a masterpiece.

At the end of her session she ran out of happy.  I snuggled her while her mama did her paperwork and gathered her things and SHE FELL ASLEEP ON MY SHOULDER!!!  If I didn’t have to pay my studio rent, that would have been payment enough right there.  I LOOOVE when babies fall asleep on me.  I let their heaviness soak into me… it’s an unmatched form of This-is-What-Life’s-All-About Therapy.

To her mother… take a bow.  Your baby couldn’t possibly be any more gorgeous.  You might want to carry a stick with you everywhere you go… so you can poke people and push them away when they bombard you for a chance at baby hypnosis.  But, put the stick down when you bring her near ME.
