YAY! You're Here!

I just love this thing called photography. My passion for it is genuine in that my heart beats a little faster when I pick up my camera. For years, I have put blood, sweat and tears into this passion of mine. (You want to know about the blood, don't you? I have a story...Just ask and I'll tell.)

Yes, I'm a photographer... but I'm also a wife, a mother of two, a SLIGHT germaphobe, a perfectionist (with photography... you do NOT want to see my desk right now) and a serious goof-ball. (Is that an oxymoron?)

I'm fun, I'm REAL...I'm also real fun. Most of all, I'M GLAD YOU'RE HERE... (and I secretly love you for it!) Thanks for stopping by.

When moments cannot be put into words, let the photography do the talking.

I was prepared to have fun, but I wasn’t prepared to learn.  In case you didn’t know, there’s a huuuuge difference between diesel engines and steam engines when it comes to trains.   And this boy knows his trains.  I photographed him and he educated me.  I’m walkin’ a little bit taller today.  Because I’m smarter.  About trains.  Because, when a 3-year-old boy is involved… trains are a hot ticket.  (Can I count that as a pun?  If so, it was totally intended.)

So, of course he brought his trains.

He also brought his favorite blanket along…  a blanket that is loved by more than a few of my clients.  I happen to love it, too.  Why?  Well, It’s silky on one side, soft on the other…. it’s very photogenic and it brings out the best in kids.  To the maker of this blanket- I tip my ponytail to you. (Not wearing a hat.)

He let me squeeze on his cheeks and steal his curls.  Such a giver and a sharer, he was.  (And I try not to say the word “sharer” if I can help it.  It comes out sounding like “cher” unless you say “Share-RER”.  Too much work.)  But, he was willing to share his curls with me and that meant a lot to this straight-haired photographer.

Ah, looking a little too grown up in that photo (above)… It happens at every photo shoot.   Which is why I always try my darnedest to get at least one of them looking all young-ish like THIS:

(See that curl on the side?  That’s the one I tried to steal.)

We had great conversations, him and I.  I loved asking him questions because I was sure to get an honest and true answer… because any answer preceded with an expression like this is bound to be sincere:

He was a full-body laugher, too.  Head back, eyes almost closed, belly shaking… I love it.

And, did I mention I love this blanket?

To his mother: Congratulations!  My biggest laugh of the day was caused by you.  In case your memory needs refreshing… Me: “Woolly bullyyyy… wooly bully. Watch it now, watch it!”  You: “Here come!”  I love you!  To his daddy: Helper of the Year = YOU.  Like I said.. if you’re ever bored on a Saturday, feel free to swing by! You guys are the best and I love your boy (and his laughs, and his curls, and his blanket) to pieces. I hope you like your preview- I’ll be in touch when the rest are finished.
