I'm so glad you're here

My passion for photography is genuine in that my heart beats a little faster when I pick up my camera. For years, I have put blood, sweat and tears into this passion of mine. (You want to know about the blood, don't you? I have a story...Just ask and I'll tell.)

Yes, I'm a photographer... but I'm also a wife, a mother of two, a SLIGHT germaphobe, a perfectionist (with photography... you do NOT want to see my desk right now) and a serious goof-ball. (Is that an oxymoron?)

I'm fun, I'm REAL...I'm also real fun. Most of all, I'M GLAD YOU'RE HERE... (and I secretly love you for it) Thanks for stopping by.

When moments cannot be put into words, let the photography do the talking.

This 5 lb 10 oz little Sprout got a rough first impression of our world as she had to spend some time in the NICU due to red blood cell issues. That’s hard on a new mama (and daddy, too)… so I give them tons of credit for being so strong.  Thankfully, this little sprout inherited the “strong gene” from her parents and she was very resilient.

Because of her extended hospital time, we had to do her newborn shoot at 17 days old. Despite her being an “older” newborn, I told her mama she still looked like a freshly-born baby… so tiny and precious and perfectly pink.

Ohhh that first photo. That first photo can FOOL you so good.  Looks like she held still, doesn’t it?  Well, thank goodness for fast shutter speeds.  There’s a reason the world “Sassy” is included in this title.  She didn’t want to have much to do with sleeping or holding still.

I DID start the session off by saying, “OH MY HEAVENS, SHE HAS THE CUUUUTEST AWAKE FACE!”  So, perhaps it’s my fault.  She mistakenly thought if she fell asleep she would disappoint. Nah… no disappointment my dear.

She was a sassy one, yes, but it gave me more time to love on her.  And there’s nothing wrong with awake newborn photos. I happen to love them.

See, if she slept the whole time, we wouldn’t have a shot like this:

The sleeping shots were really quick because she didn’t give me much time.  It’s okay… even though the baby is the boss… us grown-ups always win in the end.

Little Sprout of Strong and Sassy… you sure are beautiful.  Simply perfect.

To her parents: It was so nice to meet you- I think you both are so great.  I was amazed by how you handled yourselves in the seemingly stressful moments.  CHAMPS, I tell ya.  I really hope she slept well for you two that night.  I think she owed it to you!  Thanks for letting me love on her that day. To be honest, I enjoy that a teeny bit more than the actual shooting.  There’s nothing like new-baby snuggles. NNNothing.

Clients, I am going to be out of town from tomorrow morning and will be returning to work on the 26th.  I have a shoot that morning, but I will be answering emails and phone calls in the order they were received that afternoon.  It’s been two years since I’ve gone on vacation- I plan to be a whole new woman when I come back… completely refreshed with these old batteries charged. (MY batteries, not my camera’s.  Those are always charged… enough to make me jealous.) Thanks for understanding!
